The Fenton varsity boys basketball team jumped out to an early first-quarter lead, and held on down the stretch to earn a victory against the Lake Fenton Blue Devils.

The Tigers jumped to a 28-9 first-quarter lead and eventually earned a 68-60 victory.

Six Fenton players scored in the first quarter, with Trent DeGayner leading the way with nine points, all coming on three-pointers. Three other Fenton players (Addison McIntosh, Alec Kussro and Braden Moore) had treys during the quarter as well. If not for Matt Turgeon’s nine first-quarter points the Blue Devils would’ve been in an even deeper hole.

However, as quick as the Tigers took the early lead, the Blue Devils cut into the gap dramatically in the second quarter. Five Lake Fenton players scored points in the second quarter. Kaleb Siebert netted a team-best seven points in second quarter, helping the Blue Devils to a 21-point quarter. The Tigers only scored 10 second-quarter points, cutting the Tigers’ lead to just 38-30 at halftime.

Fenton slowly edged their lead out a bit in the third quarter. Five Fenton players scored in the third quarter with Lucas Claborn scoring four points, leading the Tigers to a 50-39 lead entering the fourth.

Addison McIntosh helped the Tigers ice the victory in the fourth quarter. McIntosh scored 12 of the Tigers’ 18 fourth-quarter points, helping stave off a furious Lake Fenton comeback.

McIntosh had a game-high 23 points while DeGayner and Claborn had 12 points each. Kussro netted 10 points.

Turgeon led the Blue Devils with 13 points while Carter Foerster and Siebert had 11 points each. Francis Senter netted 10 points.
