There was another one-run game between Lake Fenton and Fenton last week other than the baseball title game.
The two varsity softball squads had one, in what was a 6-5 victory for the Fenton Tigers in the annual Pink Out contest.
The Tigers were trailing 5-4 after Lake Fenton scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. However, the Tigers clawed back. Fenton tied the game with a run in the fifth inning. With one out, Kariana Pelkey doubled. An out later, she scored on a passed ball.
Fenton scored the game-winning run the sixth inning. With two out, Allie Michewicz singled, and then Izzy MacCaughan struck out, but it was dropped resulting in her reaching first. Sophie Collins followed with an RBI-single. The Tigers led 6-5.
The Blue Devils did get a walk and two singles in the sixth, but failed to score. In the seventh, Raegan Barden started the inning with a single, but the next three batters got out, ending the game.
Fenton opened the game with three runs in the first. Collins, Pelkey and Lily Tukowski all singled, loading the bases. Ally Turkowski responded with a three-run double, making it a 3-0 lead.
Lake Fenton scored a run in its first. Addison Fitzgerald walked and eventually scored on Breann Shively’s single. Fenton upped the lead to 4-1 in the third when Lily Turkowski hit an RBI-ground out, scoring Pelkey. However, the Blue Devils scored four runs in the fourth, taking the 5-4 lead. With one out, Leah Meyers singled and Emily Antonangeli doubled. Camryn Macneill walked, loading the bases.
Addison Fitzgerald drove in the first run with an RBI-single while Beardlsey tied it with a two-run double. The final run scored on Camryn McMillan’s single.
The Tigers used three pitchers with Tammy Craven being the most effective. She struck out three and tossed three innings of shutout pitching. Lily Turkowski tossed three innings of one-run ball, striking out two. McMillan went the distance for Lake Fenton, striking out eight.
