The Powers Catholic varsity boys lacrosse team enjoyed a pretty solid spring season.

The Chargers finished the 2018 campaign 11-6 overall, six games better than in 2017. The squad also advanced to a Division 2 regional championship contest, eventually dropping a 15-8 verdict against the sixth-ranked St. Mary’s Prep squad.

The team’s success had a lot to do with many tri-county residents.

They included Fenton’s Miles Cramer, Fidel Carino and Ben Kehoe and Linden’s Alex Harris, Ben Affrica and Luke Phillpotts.

Cramer was named the Saginaw Valley League MVP, earning first-team honors. He also was an Academic All-State performer. Also earning first-team all-league honors were Harris, Affrica and Carino. Carino also earned Third-Team All-State status.

Second-team all-league players were Kehoe and Phillpotts. Phillpotts also earned All-State Honorable Mention status.

The squad overall earned First-Team Academic All-State honors with a grade-point average of 4.15. They were the only Division 2 team to earn this distinction.
