Led by Gracie Olsen’s two top-seeded events, the Fenton varsity girls swimming and diving team will have plenty of athletes competing during the second day of the Division 2 State Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at Oakland University.

The Tigers have competitors slated to compete in eight of the 12 events.

Gracie Olsen will be going for her second and third individual event state championships, entering Saturday’s meet with the top time in the 200 freestyle (1:49.90) and in the 100 butterfly (55.24).  Olsen will lead two relays to state final races as well. Olsen, Abigail Dolliver, Halee Alexander and Lillie Kromer will begin the meet as the fifth seed in the final race of the 200 medley relay (1:49.02) while Olsen, Kromer, Delaney Fries and Dolliver will be the fifth seed in the 400 freestyle relay (3:26.4).

Diver Emma Jump is in the diving finals as well. She’s seeded 13th after preliminary and semifinal action (230.80).

The Tigers will have some members competing in consolation finals races as well. Kromer will be in the 50 freestyle consolation final after placing 14th (24.77) and will be in the 100 freestyle consolation final after placing 10th (53.71). Abigail Dolliver will be in the consolation finals of the 100 breaststroke as well. She placed 12th in the prelims (1:09.36).

Other Fenton swimmers who competed in the preliminaries but were unable to advance beyond Friday’s first day were: Sophie Stefanac, 23rd place in the 200 freestyle (2:02.14) and 30th in the 500 freestyle (5:29.33); Dolliver, 18th in the 200 individual medley (2:14.93); Chloe Mallard, 21st in diving (144.95); Morgan Smith, 26th in diving (132.20); Madeline Kazmierski, 20th in the 500 freestyle (5:22.24); Delaney Fries, 28th in 100 backstroke (1:02.36); and Halee Alexander, Abby Carrigan, Rosey Haney and Stefanac, 27th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:44.75).

Holly’s Rebecca Costigan placed 29th in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.02).

The second-day final at Oakland University begins at 5 p.m.
