The Linden varsity volleyball team probably had to play its best match of the league season to defeat the defending Flint Metro League champion Flushing Raiders.

Linden played well for large periods of time but were unable to defeat the Raiders,  losing 29-27, 25-12, 25-16.

“We definitely had moments of greatness and could have finished that first set more than once,” Linden varsity volleyball coach Cori Mason said. “Unfortunately, the night didn’t go our way overall.”

Avery Koan had a strong defensive performance, recording 15 digs. Linnea Wittbrodt had eight digs. Ellie Klocek led the defense at the net with six blocks.

Offensively, Klocek had 10 kills while Wittbrodt had four kills.

Linden returns to Flint Metro League action Wednesday at Swartz Creek on October 16.
