The Linden varsity softball team took care of the Clio Mustangs in the second-place Flint Metro League crossover game.
The Eagles won the first game 10-3 and won the second 17-13.
In the opener, Linden had 11 hits. The biggest one was a three-run home run by Morgan Piotrovsky in the Eagles’ five run second inning. Piotrovsky finished with three hits while driving in four runs. Olivia Burke had two hits while scoring two runs while Bella Indish also had two hits. Megan Widner hit an RBI-double and Maizy Aeschliman had a hit and three RBI. Cassie Sylvester also had a hit and an RBI.
On the mound, Kayla Widner pitched a complete-game victory, allowing six hits and four walks. She struck out five.
The Eagles trailed 6-0 in the second game, but the Eagles scored at least three runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings resulting in the 17-13 win.
Linden had 18 hits with two being home runs. Piotrovsky hit a three-run home run in the Eagles’ third while Kayla Widner opened the Eagles’ four-run fourth inning. Aeschliman led the Eagles with a 4-for-5 effort which included three RBI. Piotrovsky and Indish had three hits and drove in four runs while Ava Siegwald had three hits and an RBI. Widner had two hits and three RBI while Burke also had two hits and drove in a run.
