The Linden varsity boys soccer team has found its offense in recent games.
The Eagles (8-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the Metro) have scored 16 of them in their last two games, with the most recent being an 8-1 Metro League victory against the Swartz Creek Dragons on Monday. Linden also beat Carman-Ainsworth 8-0 on Saturday.
Ryan Gillespie has been hot in particular. He scored a three-goal hat trick against Swartz Creek and also scored two goals in the win against the Cavaliers.
In both games it was a pretty balanced offensive effort. Five players scored goals and six assisted goals in the victory. After Gillespie, Brandon Davis had two goals while Alex Smith, Brandan Johnson and Colin Love had a goal each. Aaron Whitted, Aiden Miller and Gillespie had two assists each, while Hunter Hall and Bishop Lawrence had an assist each.
Ian Downarowicz earned the victory in net. He also earned the shutout victory in net against the Cavaliers.
Offensively, Aiden Miller also scored two goals while Davis, Smith, Johnson and Bishop Lawrence had a goal each. Davis had two assists while Smith, Lawrence, Hunter Hall and Devin Nowak had an assist each.
