The Linden varsity boys soccer team finished the 2019 fall season in a three-way tie for the Flint Metro League championship.
It looks like the Eagles want to contend for another title again in 2020.
Linden improved to 2-0 in Flint Metro League action with a 4-1 victory at Swartz Creek on Monday.
The Eagles opened the season with a 4-3 victory against Brandon on Thursday and also defeated non-league foe Davison at home on Friday, beating the Cardinals 2-0.
Linden jumped to a 1-0 lead against Swartz Creek on a Brendan Shingleton goal that was assisted by Hunter Hall. A Swartz Creek penalty kick tied the game at 1-1 by halftime.
The Eagles dominated the second half. Shingleton, Bishop Lawrence and Alex Smith each scored goals for Linden while Smith and Lawrence had an assist each.
In the victory against Davison, Ian Downarowicz made six saves in goal, earning his first clean sheet of the season. Alex Smith and Brandan Johnson scored the Eagles’ goals while Hunter Hall recorded both assists.
In the victory against Brandon, Lawrence, Devine Nowack, Hall and Logan Bushon had goals. Hall’s was a penalty kick. Hall and Lawrence had an assist each.
The Eagles return to Flint Metro League action again today with a road contest at Holly.
