Lake Fenton competitive cheer

The Lake Fenton varsity competitive cheer team seems to be peaking at the right time of the season.

The Blue Devils not only won the fourth Genesee Area Conference meet held at Lake Fenton High School, they also won the GAC crown while  posting their best team score of the season.

Lake Fenton crushed the competition on home turf, posting a total team score of 694.16, beating second place Webberville (664.46) by nearly 30 points.

The Blue Devils followed up that event by taking first in the three-team Division 3 portion of the Tiger Invitational held at Fenton High School. Their total team score at that event was 658.60.

The Blue Devils had good competition with Webberville early on at the GAC event. Webberville posted a round one score of 211.20, beating out Lake Fenton’s 207.50. However, the Blue Devils responded with the best scores by any school in round two and round three. In round two, the Blue Devils were the only team in the field to score better than a 200, recording a 204.66. That performance put the Blue Devils in first place by about 21 points entering the final round. Any chances of anyone catching the Blue Devils ended when Lake Fenton responded with a 282.00 third round. The second and third rounds

Two days later the Blue Devils went to Fenton and earned its second straight first. The team’s 212.20 round one score is the team’s second-best performance in round one this season. It placed the Blue Devils in first for the rest of the event. Lake Fenton scored a 195.30 in round two and a 275.10 in round three. Penalties in round two and round three kept the Blue Devils from flirting with the 700 plateau for the second straight event.

Lake Fenton’s JV team had a strong showing, posting a total team score of 585.40. Lake Fenton had a 190.80 in round one, a 147.30 in round two and a 257.30 in round three.

Lake Fenton also had a team compete in the middle school division, earning a score of 462.92 over two rounds. Lake Fenton scored a 153.22 in round one and then a 309.70 in round two.

The Blue Devils compete in Division 3 Chesaning  district action Saturday. The Blue Devils are in a district which includes two ranked teams – No. 4 Lake Odessa Lakewood and No. 5 Charlotte.
