The Fenton-Holly rivalry hit the Northville Invitational last weekend.
Both squads advanced to the Silver Bracket championship game of the tournament creating the second time the squads have faced this season.
The Bronchos won the match by a 25-14, 25-18 score.
The Bronchos went 4-1-1 in the tourney, also beating Harper Creek, Pinckney and Rochester. They tied Saline and lost to Lake Orion. The Tigers went 3-3 at the event.
“A lot of girls stepped up in different ways,” Holly varsity volleyball coach Deena Maher said. “We had key players out so we had to change things quite a bit, but the girls took it and ran with it. Where we struggled had nothing to do with the new girls, but had to do with the tougher competition we played. But it’s all a growing and learning experience.”
Against Fenton, Delaney Jenkinson led the Bronchos with nine digs while Sarah Jewell and Paige Weeder had three digs each. Sydnie Meszler had 21 assists with Kennedy Hogan providing a team-high six kills. Weeder and Jewell had five kills each. Jewell also had four aces while Meszler had three. Jenkinson had two.
In the victory against Rochester, Weeder had 15 digs and Jewell had eight. Jewell also led the team with six kills while Marissa Walker and Weeder had four kills and two blocks each. Hogan also had two blocks. Meszler had 17 assists.
Jewell and Hogan had seven kills each against Pinckney while Weeder had four kills, nine digs and three aces. Meszler had 21 assists and three aces while Jewell had 10 digs. Delaney Jenkinson had six digs.
Jewell had nine kills in the victory against Harper Creek. Hogan had eight and Walker had four. Weeder provided nine digs and Delaney Jenkinson had eight.
