After losing two competitive games in their first two contests, the Fenton/Linden varsity hockey team is starting a different streak.
The Griffins have won their last two games, defeating the Tri-Valley Titans 6-2 in a road contest.
The six goals were the most the Griffins have scored this season, and the two goals they have allowed represents the fewest the team has yielded.
The Griffins (2-2) never trailed, but it did take the squad some time to a sizable lead. The team’s first lead was established when Nick Temple scored a power-play goal in the opening period on assists by Keegan McNamara and Caleb Baker. The Griffins led 1-0 after one period.
The lead grew to 2-0 on a goal by Tristyn Cox on assists from Barron Smiecinski and McNamara. However, Tri-Valley scored the game’s next two goals, tying it at 2-all.
But the tie didn’t last long as the Griffins scored the game’s final four goals. Caden Crandall, McNamara, Temple and Florida scored goals before the contest was over. Mitchel Luck, Kenneth Sorum, Evan Hutchings, Cox and Rykerson Wright had assists down the stretch on one of the final four goals.
In the goal, Brady Faille earned the victory.
Fenton/Linden have a busy schedule. The squad traveled to play West Ottawa on Friday and host Dexter on Tuesday. On Wednesday they travel to play Mid-Michigan.
