There was a little good and bad during last weekend for the Fenton/Linden varsity hockey team.
The squad opened the weekend with an 8-2 loss against White Lake Lakeland, but bounced back to beat Stoney Creek 6-1 on Saturday.
The Griffins trailed Stoney Creek 1-0 after one period, but ended up taking the lead with three goals in the second period. The Griffins also scored three goals in the third period.
Nick Temple led the offense with two goals while Brendan Miles had a goal and two assists. Ethan Hutchings had a goal and an assist while Trevor Isaacson and Dominic Loria had a goal each. Keegan McNamara, Dominic Krusniak, Heyden Justus and Ken Sorum had an assist each.
Both teams had scoring chances. Fenton/Linden had a slight 32-31 shots on goal edge. Loren Jones played in net for the Griffins and made 30 saves.
The contest against White Lake Lakeland started with the Griffins leading after one period 2-1. However, Lakeland scored five goals in the second period to blow the game open. The Griffins had serious issues with penalties, getting called for 12. It helped the Eagles enjoy a 40-17 shot edge.
Miles had a goal and an assis while Temple had a goal. Hutchings and Trevor Isaacson each had an assist.
Jones had 32 saves in goal.
The Griffins (9-11) host Dexter at the Hartland Sports Center Friday at 5:30 p.m.
