The Fenton varsity boys tennis team just keeps on winning and winning.
The Tigers moved to 5-0 with a victory against the Owosso Trojans Tuesday.
The match didn’t present much excitement as none of Owosso’s flight were able to win more than three games.
Fenton’s No. 3 doubles team of Garrett Bloss and Tom Lockwood were extended to a 6-2, 6-1 verdict before earning their point. No other flight ever lost more than one game in a set.
Gabe Hand (No. 1 singles) was the only player to win a 6-0, 6-0 match, doing so against Wyatt Leland. The other three singles flights flirted with perfection. Each had 6-0 first-set wins, but had to settle for 6-1 wins in the second set. They were Sheldon Hand (No. 2), Jordon Conn (No. 3) and Remy Book (No. 4).
Fenton’s No. 4 doubles team only lost one game as well, but did so the opposite way. The team of Joe McCartney and Nate Dymond won 6-1, 6-0. Finally, Jack Gundry and Bradley Trecha (No. 1 doubles) and Trevor Bloss and Mitchell Scheer (No.2 doubles) won their matches by 6-1, 6-1 scores.
The regular season accounts for 50 percent of the overall season standings. Fenton’s biggest match of the league season is Tuesday when the Tigers travel to Flushing to face the league’s only other undefeated squad, Flushing.
