The Fenton varsity girls tennis team is climbing to the top of the Flint Metro League standings.
The Tigers (8-0 in the Flint Metro League) are the only remaining undefeated and untied team in league play, and have recently earned a handful of key victories, defeating area rival Holly 6-2 in a dual on Monday and Flushing 7-1 in another dual on Tuesday. The squad wrapped up the week with an 8-0 victory against Goodrich.
Against Holly, the Tigers won three of the singles and doubles flights. In singles action, Fenton’s Makenna Fisher (No. 2), Laney O’Brien (No. 3) and Haley O’Brien (No. 4) earned victories. Sokolowski has yet to lose a match this season.
The Flushing match was another pivotal dual as the Raiders were undefeated in league play entering the match as well, but the victory ended up being pretty routine.
