The Fenton varsity girls swim team competed against quality programs on Wednesday, earning two quality victories in the process.
The Tigers took home seven overall firsts, beating Lakeland 195-116 and beating Hartland 182-118 in the process.
Gracie Olsen and Abigail Dolliver left the meet with four firsts. Individually, Dolliver won the 200 individual medley (2:22.47) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.62) while Olsen won the 200 freestyle (1:55.11) and the 100 butterfly (58.26).
The duo combined with Delaney Fries and Lillie Kromer to take first in the 200 medley relay 91:56.72) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:50.98) as well. Olsen’s individual times were state-qualifying times while the 400 freestyle relay team came within .39 second of qualifying for the state meet as well.
Fenton’s best event was the 100 butterfly, earning the top three spots overalll. After Olsen’s win, Helee Alexander (1:07.80) took second and Abby Carrigan (1:08.98) took third. Fenton’s final first was earned in the 50 freestyle when Kromer won the event with a time of 26.25 seconds.
Many others earned individual second-place finishes. That list included Rose Haney in the 200 individual medley (2:29.85), Kromer in the 100 freestyle (57.41), Emma Jump in diving (191.15), and Fries in the 100 backstroke (1:08.05).
