It’s been a year of rebuilding for the Lake Fenton varsity wrestling team, but the squad still has had some highlights.
Lake Fenton had some when they had Sean Trombley (152), Logan Julian (189) and Zolen Marron (215) earn league titles. Their performances helped the BLue Devils place third in the seven-team event.
Trombley, who came within a victory of earning a state championship a year ago, started his postseason in dominant fashion. He defeated Bendle’s Tyler Johnson by pinfall in 2:17, earning his title. He remains undefeated this season.
Julian and Marron also have high aspirations this postseason as well, and earned one strong goal at the meet. Marron defeated Goodrich’s Kevin Patterson by pinfall in his title match while Julian defeated Goodrich’s Juwan Vines by a 7-1 decision in his championship match. Marron has lost just one match while Julain has lost just twice.
Two other Blue Devils placed third at the event. Jaden Ketchum (103) defeated Hamady’s Martell Jackson by pinfall to earn his third-place finish. Meanwhile, John Grigg (160) also placed third.
