After Friday’s 40-8 loss to Brandon, Lake Fenton varsity football coach Marty Borski didn’t have much to say.
In fact, he couldn’t think of anything to say.
“We are frustrated as players and coaches,” Borski said. “I’ll be honest. For the first time ever I didn’t have an immediate answer what could be the issue. I didn’t have anything to say. I have to go through the film, re-evaluate this and start fresh on Sunday. It’s not like we are outclassed or anything like that. We are just making silly mistakes for this point of the season and it’s not just the young guys, it’s also the seniors, and we are making mistakes I wouldn’t ever think we’d make in a million years.
“It seems we have a different breakdown at key spots. If there are 80 play, we play 75 of them dead even, but it’s a breakdown on a key third down on either side of the ball.”
Lake Fenton trailed 40-0 before scoring their only TD late in the game. It came on a Zachary Coon 91-yard TD run. He also scored the two-point conversion with a run.
Brandon scored on its first possession when Micah Miller scored on a one-yard QB sneak. In the second quarter, Noah Jackson had a 14-yard TD run, Miller threw a 34-yard TD pass to Brandon Gunn and Josh Dubiel scored on a 71-yard fumble return. Brandon led 27-0 at halftime.
Adrien Williams and Jawson Slater each scored on short TD runs in the second half.
The Blue Devils (3-4) host Flushing for a crossover contest on Friday.
