I am not from Holly, but I have lived here for well over 45 years. The streets and trees and buildings are as familiar to me as the markings on my own hands. What Holly is, what it has come to be, is a town that cherishes its past, knows its own heart, and understands the connection shared by its occupants. The fire, which destroyed a physical chunk of Holly’s heritage did not destroy the memories we hold and the passions we have for belonging to the same place. In fact, the fire made us realize that we are lucky indeed to have had our childhoods and adulthoods set in a place rich with the breath of long-ago eras, while always welcoming new additions into the fold. Take heart, fellow Hollyians, and celebrate our collective love for our wonderfully unique village.
