Dear Editor,

I am concerned about the Fenton Planning Commission article in the June 30 issue. I think the planning commission should allow flags certainly for major holidays like July 4th. I understand there is an ordinance, but treating small businesses like that and not having an exception to the rule is crazy. What has our world come to when you cannot fly the American flag on Fourth of July! I am not a service person, but I am truly offended that people have given their lives for us to be where we are today, and we do not seem to care. I recommend the planning commission rethink their position on the flags, or otherwise businesses will leave town and there will not be anything left for the commission to plan.
