PARENTS, OUR KIDS are watching us very closely on how we handle the Oxford High School shooting. They might not show their fear, but we have to be aware of their emotions, words, communications and more so that they will grow up to be strong and loving parents someday too.

I OPENED MY front door last night to the sound of beautiful voices — Christmas carolers from a local church. At a time when it feels as though everything is wrong in this world, what a pleasant and welcome surprise. Thank you.

IT’S TIME TO put away the digital devices and get out the old-fashioned board games. It’s time to create family bonding and memories. It’s time to laugh. You just might find this will be the best time spent with your parents, grandparents, kids and grandkids.

MY WIFE AND I thoroughly enjoyed this year’s Jinglefest. Being new to the area, we weren’t sure what to expect, but the event itself made us feel like we belong to this community. Such a wonderful event.

I WANT TO thank the person that found my credit card in Alpine’s parking lot and was kind enough to turn it in to the store. I was really stressed when I found it missing. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season. You sure made mine. I love this small town.

ARE PARENTS NOT telling their kids it is illegal to make any kind of threat to a school? This is a 20-year felony. I doubt a 12 or 13-year-old would realize that their threatening call can easily be traced to them. Kids must learn this is not funny.

SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO me how/why moving Mott Community College to downtown Fenton is a good thing? Traffic congestion is already atrocious. Fenton isn’t a place anyone wants to spend even more time in during rush hour.

I WOULD THINK with the tax money city of Linden gets from Shiawassee Shores Retirement Park that Rolston Road west of the railroad tracks would be kept in better shape. With 300 homes in the park and daily usage, there is no excuse for the road to be in such deplorable condition.

AS I WAS driving around in Rose Township the other day, I noticed a lot of vehicle junk yards at different homes. Does anybody at the township offices not see this?
