Fenton Area Public Schools (FAPS) will have a Sinking Fund renewal on the Nov. 5, ballot.  The renewal is a three-year levy at .899 mil. This renewal means no new taxes to homeowners while maintaining the much needed high level of support from our community.

A Sinking Fund is critical to school districts across the state and has allowed FAPS to repair and upgrade our facilities and grounds over the course of many years.  FAPS has over 650,000 square feet of facilities that are used by thousands of citizens each year. We must take care of what we have.

It is imperative that our community is informed before the November election and we want to make sure we have done everything in our power to answer questions you may have regarding the renewal. On Oct. 16, at 6:30 p.m., FAPS will host a Sinking Fund Informational meeting at the Fenton Cultural and Community Center, 150 S. LeRoy. You may also visit or contact me directly at (810) 591-4701 or

We have been able to keep our buildings and grounds up to date over many years due to the Sinking Fund.  Our efforts to keep over 650,000 square feet of facilities up to date helps us attract and retain families. Having the current Sinking Fund has allowed us to use general funds to purchase new curriculum resources, maintain our staffing levels and focus those dollars on teaching and learning.

Thank you in advance for your kind attention to the FAPS Sinking Fund renewal.
