There’s never been a better time to be a Broncho. Or a more challenging one.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created personal, financial and other hardships across our Broncho community.
Like all Michigan districts, our buildings are closed for the school year. Parents have become makeshift teachers, sometimes while out of work. Some Broncho families have limited access to online resources, making distance learning a daily challenge.
The good news: Everyone, from students, teachers and parents, to our support staff, food service workers and custodians, to our transportation drivers and maintenance and technology team, is doing their part to ensure we remain united under these unprecedented circumstances.
I want to take a moment to personally thank all Holly Area Schools parents, who continue making unparalleled sacrifices for their children’s education. Our parents couldn’t have predicted this crisis, and I truly appreciate their commitment to ensuring their children continue learning.
I also want to thank all of our teachers, support staff and administrators for implementing a comprehensive distance learning plan for our community soon after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer closed school buildings for the rest of the school year.
Our food service program hasn’t missed a beat, providing more than 1,000 meals to local families every day. That includes breakfast and lunch Mondays through Fridays, and two extra packages of healthy, nutritious meals for the weekend. Thanks to our food service staff, our Bronchos will return healthy and ready to learn.
Despite the daily frustrations we all face, I am proud we have maintained a sense of civility in our community, whether on social media, email, phone or video conferencing. While our buildings remain closed, we have never been more committed to providing a culture of kindness, compassion and respect at Holly Area Schools.
We’re going to get through this. We will return with a renewed commitment to providing a one-of-a-kind, 21st century education at Holly Area Schools that prepares all students for bright futures.
From my family to yours, please stay safe and healthy. We will persevere, #BronchosUnited.
