The owners of the Tyrone Woods Manufactured Housing Community donated $1,000 to Linden Community Schools and Change for Kids on Thursday, Oct. 1.
The Becker family wanted to do something to help the community
during the COVID-19 pandemic, said Justin Becker.
“Being in the business that we’re in, the service industry, we could see firsthand our residents’ struggles. Financially, with unemployment going on and various other issues,” he said. “With schooling being virtual, we do know that also weighs on families not being able to work as much as they would like to. We do help our residents every way we can, but we wanted to shed some positive light during this uncertain time.”
Their team brainstormed ideas and they decided to donate to Linden Community Schools.
Dawn Marshall, employee at Tyrone Woods, organized the donation and said she’s happy her bosses decided to help the schools.
“It makes me smile every time I think about it,” she said.
Marshall herself used to work at Linden Community Schools as a teacher’s aide. She’s also coached gymnastics and worked at Howell Schools.
“I 100 percent support local teachers,” she said.
