Trustee Allen “Al” Pool will be resigning from the Tyrone Township Board of Trustees effective Wednesday, July 3. He was elected to the board in 2016.
Pool, a former General Motors employee, was among the 4,000 salaried employees who were laid off earlier this year. He has accepted a new career opportunity in Western Michigan and will be moving from Tyrone Township.
“It was an honor and a pleasure to serve my friends and neighbors in Tyrone Township,” Pool said. “My time as a trustee and as a member of the planning commission has been very rewarding. I’m certain I leave the township in good hands and I know that Tyrone will continue to be an excellent place to live for many years to come.”
Tyrone Township Supervisor Mike Cunningham said, “Al is a dedicated trustee serving on the planning commission before becoming a trustee. When Al became a trustee, he was also appointed as the ex officio member of the township board to the planning commission. Al will be missed and I wish him the best with his new career opportunity.”
Pool’s resignation leaves a vacancy that will need to be filled. Anyone who lives in Tyrone Township and is interested in becoming a trustee with the township board can apply on the township’s website, tyronetownship.us.
Interviews will be held with the final candidates interviewed and appointed at a future township board meeting, Cunningham said.
