The Vietnam Moving Wall is coming to Holly August 3-8, 2022. The project is sponsored by the Holly American Legion Post 149 and the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center. The Moving Wall has never been to Holly.

 They are holding a Dinner-Improv fundraiser Jan. 21, 2022, at The Vault in downtown Holly starting at 7 p.m. The cost of the dinner in $40 per ticket and $60 per couple. The Clarkston Village Players will provide the entertainment in terms of an improv program including some audience participation games. Cari Cucksey of The Vault and her staff will provide the dinner and there will be a cash bar.

 The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the original Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C. The names of 58,281 of U.S. service personnel who were killed or died in Vietnam are etched on the Wall.

 The Moving Wall comes to Holly through Vietnam Combat Veterans, Ltd. They are located in Michigan and have been all over the United States. The Moving Wall is 252 feet long. The original is 493 feet, 6 inches.

 The Moving Wall will be located west of the Richter Campus off East Street. The Opening Ceremony will take place Aug. 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. and the Closing Ceremony will be on Aug. 7, 2022 at 2 p.m. There will be a Welcome Home Reunion for all veterans Aug. 6, 2022, starting at 1 p.m. No matter when you served or where, you are welcome to attend.

 It costs $10,000 to bring the wall to Holly. Additional costs include a platform for the wall, walkway, tents, benches, flagpole, tables and chairs, and more. If you would like to donate, please make checks payable to the American Legion Post 149 and indicate that it is for the wall. You can drop off donations at the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center or you can mail donations to the Holly American Legion Post 149, P.O. Box #159, Holly MI 48442.
