A large party in Brandon Township, attended by more than 100 individuals from the cities of Flint, Burton, Clio, Lansing, the village of Holly, Brandon Township and other areas, led to a shooting in the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 13.
Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said multiple deputies and the Brandon Township Fire Department responded to the 1500 block of Perry Lake Road on a report of multiple shots fired outside a residence at 2:16 a.m.
More than 100 young people from the ages of 15 thru 20 years old had gathered at the residence for a party. An argument ensued between two of the groups.
A large window in the residence was broken out by a male subject.
A 17-year-old male who resides at residence retrieved a 9 mm handgun and fired multiple rounds. An 18-year-old male from Flint was struck in the right arm and he sustained cuts from the broken glass.
The victim told deputies that he had engaged in a verbal argument with someone prior to him being shot. Two handguns were reported stolen from the residence and have not been recovered.
The victim was transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital by the Brandon Township Fire Department with a gunshot wound to his arm. He was treated and released.
Detectives arrived and began their investigation.
The suspect has been lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending issuance of charges. The incident remains under investigation. The 17 year old, whose parents were out of town, told deputies that originally 15 people were invited but someone posted the party on social media and more than 100 people showed up.
