The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious situation, which was reported in Fenton Township on Thursday, Aug. 29.

A Fenton Township couple alerted their friends on Facebook to keep an eye out for a white, full-size, mid-1990s high-rise van with blacked out windows. They posted that a white male in his 60s with a scruffy white beard and slicked-back hair allegedly tried to lure their son into the van.

They posted that their son went to the nearby Dort Federal Credit Union on Fenton Road for safety. At that point, the van left the area.

A sheriff’s deputy is reviewing the credit union’s video. According to the sheriff’s office, the male driver has been traced back to the counter inside the credit union. He’s a member and officials are working to identify him.

It was reported that the boy said the driver said to him “come here.” The video shows the male exit the credit union and go to his van where he sat for about three minutes before pulling to the exit at Fenton Road.

The boy can be seen on the video riding his bike in parking lot. He never stopped, talked to or acknowledged the male driver. The situation remains under investigation.
