On Jan. 4, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Argentine Township police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Pine Ridge Drive to investigate a reported vehicle fire.

Upon arrival, officers observed a white 2016 Ford Fusion parked in the driveway with the engine compartment fully involved in fire. After speaking  with the owner of the car, who said that at approximately 3:30 a.m., he was awakened by car doors closing then two loud “popping” sounds. Seconds later, he heard vehicle tires squealing. He looked outside and saw his vehicle on fire.

He attempted to put out the fire with an extinguisher to no avail. Argentine Fire and Rescue responded and extinguished the fire.

The car was impounded and secured for the Michigan State Police arson investigation. The case remains under investigation.
