Keepers of the Shiawassee River announced that it will be hosting the Shiawassee River Fest July 16-18.
The 2020 River Fest had been canceled due to the shelter in place order at the time
associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Keepers of the Shiawassee River, a 501 (C) 3 non-profit volunteer organization, is an advocate of the Shiawassee River, the Shiawassee River Trail Coalition, and the communities the river flows through.
In 2018, Keepers decided to make Fenton the home of the Shiawassee River Fest. However, when Linden City approached them recently to join them in a celebration of its own members couldn’t resist.
This year the Keepers of the Shiawassee will be teaming up with Linden’s 150th Anniversary Celebration to bring the community a full three day weekend of events, July 16, 17 and 18.
The Shiawassee River Fest will continue to provide the popular events including the Cardboard Regatta, Fishing Tournament, shopping vendors and more paired with three days of music at Linden’s Millpond gazebo alongside the Shiawassee River.
Brad Jacob, Fenton City councilman and chair of the Shiawassee River Fest said, “I know this is going to be a well received event after our tough year we’ve all had. We are in the beginning stages of planning right now, so a lot of the details have not been hammered out.”
Currently, the Keepers of the Shiawassee are working with the Linden Happening Committee to make this a memorable three-day festival celebration of the 150th anniversary of Linden. The festival will have three days of music, arts and crafts vendors, raffles, duck races, and fun activities in the river and Mill pond.
“We are hoping to include fireworks and other exciting elements,” he said.
