Together, the Lake Fenton Community Schools Foundation and the Lake Fenton PTO will host a “Shamrocks for Education” Gala — Paws for a Cause on Saturday, March 14 at the YMCA Camp Copneconic, beginning at 5 p.m.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be split between the two groups.
The Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to receiving and distributing grants to fund meaningful, innovative projects and scholarships that will benefit the entire district. Proceeds will help with the Foundation’s mission.
The PTO will use its portion of proceeds to go toward the purchase therapy dogs that will be used throughout the district. Organizers of the event said that research has shown the effects of therapy dogs to have a range of important benefits, such as increased school attendance, increased confidence, decreased learning anxiety resulting in improved reading and writing levels, and the effect on student’s social-emotional development.
The gala on March 14 includes dinner, drinks, silent/live auctions, 50/50 raffle, photo booth, DJ, dancing and more.
Some sponsorships have already been spoken for, however, organizers said there are still many sponsorship opportunities for those who wish to donate to this event.
