Fenton Twp. — The caved-in culvert on Ray Road, which prompted a section of the road to close in mid-April, six months ago, will be replaced the first week of October.
The section of the road is between Linden and Sharp roads. Alexander Patsy, Genesee County Road Commission (GCRC) programming and development engineer, said the collapse was due to rain.
The GCRC deemed the road unsafe and closed an approximate 6-foot stretch.
The GCRC will pay $112,500 of the proposed $150,000 project cost. Because the road divides Fenton and Mundy townships, both are estimated to pay matching funds of $18,750 each.
Patsy said they will not bid the project out. Instead, the GCRC maintenance department will do the work.
