On Sunday, Jan. 1 around 4:50 p.m., Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an unresponsive driver on the shoulder of Lahring Road near Hogan Road in Fenton Township. Genesee County Dispatch advised a witness had been following a Ford pickup truck that was swerving all over the road. The driver pulled off the road onto the shoulder and then slumped over the steering wheel. The witness was unable to wake up the driver of the Ford pickup truck. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the male driver, who had slurred speech and a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver of the Ford pickup truck refused all field sobriety tests and was later lodged at the Genesee County Jail where a search warrant for blood was issued. The case is still being investigated by the Genesee County Sheriff’s office.
