At 6:46 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office marine deputies and the Holly Fire Department responded to the 400 block of Academy Road on a report of two juveniles who had fallen into the water while floating on the Shiawassee River. The teens, a 13-year-old female of White Lake and a 13-year-old female of Davisburg, had dialed 911 after their inflatable inner tube was punctured and began to sink. They were able to grab hold of a tree branch near the river’s edge to stay afloat until first responders arrived. Prior to the arrival of the dive team, Holly firefighters were able to locate the teens and pull them from the water. Not wearing life jackets, the teens were fatigued from the elements but not injured.
