At 1 a.m., Sunday, May 26, a Fenton police officer on patrol observed a vehicle stopped in an eastbound lane on W. Shiawassee Avenue, just east of Rounds Drive. The driver was out of the vehicle checking damage to a rear tire. After further investigation, the officer determined that the driver, a 41-year-old Ann Arbor resident, had driven off the road, up over the curb and damaged the rear passenger side tire. The driver had slurred speech and the officer saw an open beer on the driver side floor. The driver told the officer he thought he was in Ypsilanti. The man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated-third offense. Lt. Jeff Cross said this man had four prior convictions and he was driving on a revoked license. He was arrested and lodged overnight and issued a court appearance ticket. Fenton police will be seeking felony warrant authorization from the prosecutor’s office.
