A 34-year-old Flint man was arrested following a police chase through Fenton. Lt. Jeff Cross of the Fenton Police Department said officers were dispatched to a retail fraud in progress at Walmart on Owen Road at 8:53 p.m. on Monday, June 10. While en route, police learned the suspect’s vehicle fled eastbound on Owen Road. An officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull the vehicle over as it entered northbound U.S. 23. It appeared that the fleeing vehicle was going to stop when it exited at Silver Lake Road, but it didn’t stop. An officer pursued the vehicle on eastbound Silver Lake Road, through the parking lot by the Fenton Community & Cultural Center, east on Caroline Street and eventually east on Main Street (Grange Hall Road). It eventually pulled over and stopped near the edge of the city. There were two men and one woman in the vehicle. They were taken into custody and later released. One man, the Flint resident, was arrested for second-degree retail fraud, possession of cocaine and fleeing and eluding police. He is a parole absconder and police contacted his parole officer. The man is lodged at the Genesee County Jail pending charges. Police recovered the $400 worth of stolen merchandise and returned it to the store.
