On Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021 at 7:18 p.m., deputies from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to southbound U.S. 23 for a personal injury crash. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with one of the drivers who said he was rear ended by a dark colored minivan.

The minivan did not stop at the scene of the crash and continued southbound on U.S. 23. The driver complained of neck pain and was transported to McLaren Medical Center by ambulance. While on scene, deputies were dispatched to Lake Ponemah Mobile Home Park in Fenton Township reference to domestic disturbance in progress.

The caller advised that the troubled individual was just involved in a crash on U.S. 23. Deputies arrived and found the vehicle having heavy front-end damage parked in a community parking lot. Upon searching the area, the suspect was found hiding underneath a pontoon boat.

The suspect was lodged at the Genesee County Jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing injury and leaving the scene of a crash. The case remains under investigation.
