Robert J. Wirostek

Robert J. Wirostek - age 86, of Swartz Creek, formerly of Fenton, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 14, 2023, to spend Mother's Day with his beloved wife, Joan in their heavenly home. Per Robert's request cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, with Rev. Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the St. John Chapel Renovation Fund. Bob was born in Flint, July 30, 1936 to Joseph and Mary (Maxa) Wirostek and he graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Bob started his career at Buick in the drafting room and with his work ethic and attention to detail, he rose to retire in 1998 as an Executive in G.M. Export Engineering after 44 years of service. Bob married Joan Gloss, his high school sweetheart April 30, 1955 and together they raised six children. Bob and Joan were devout Catholics and longtime members of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Fenton. Bob was a strong independent man that excelled at any endeavor her did. He was a meticulous craftsman, building and working on his house. Bob took great pride in his Slovak heritage. He and Joan were members of Swartz Creek Friendship Club for many decades. Bob was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and rang the bell for many years. Bob had a great love for his family and took his role of Patriarch seriously. He had a special place in his heart for his grandkids and great-grandkids. Bob loved polka music and would listen to his dear friend, Yana's radio show every week. Another joy he had was working for 17 years at the Preserve Golf Course and the laughter and ribbing of the leagues. Bob had an indomitable will. He was a strong proud man, never daunted by adversity. He accepted and built a full admirable life of conviction and courage that never wavered. He is loved and will be missed. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Marie; sons, Robert Christopher and Dominic Michael; and daughter, Renee Louise. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, son, Cary; daughters, Geneine (Tina) Wolff and Ramona Ward. Grandchildren, Jayme Robinson, Amber Ferguson, Ralph and Eva Hudak, along with five great-grandchildren. Special friends, Mike Primeau, Raymond Swiderski and Yana and Libor Yvette.
