Richard Smith

Richard Smith - age 85, of Adrian, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Brookdale. He was born on February 5, 1935, in Holly to Claude and Mildred (Kelley) Smith. He graduated from Holly High School where he was the captain of the Holly Bronhcos football team during their 1954 undefeated season. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married Margaret Anne Wild and she preceded him in death in 2003. Richard then married Maryann Burkhardt and she survives. Richard worked as a Quality Control Supervisor for General Motors, retiring after 30 years.  He was a member of the Masons and Elks. He was an avid sailor and received his Captains License. Richard enjoyed collecting cars and lighthouses. In addition to his wife, Maryann, Richard is survived by two sons, Richard (Diane) Smith of Brooklyn and Matt Smith of Luna Pier; two daughters, Melissa (Howard) Hicks of Sylvan Lake and Kimberly (John) Funchion of Tipton; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, Margaret Anne, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Craig Smith; a daughter, Robyn Smith; four brothers, John, Bill, Dean, and David; and a sister, Norma.
