Paul John Hieber - age 80, of Gaines, died Tuesday, August 28, 2019. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1025 Main St., Fenton. Pastor Dean Dumbrille will officiate. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM, Friday, August 30, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden and from 12 PM until the time of service Saturday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church. Paul was born January 12, 1939 in Flint, the son of Martin and Melvina (Neumann) Hieber. He was a 1957 graduate of Linden High School, where he lettered in Baseball, Basketball, Football and Track. Paul was a volunteer fireman with Linden Fire Department and later with Burns Township Fire Department, also serving as Chief. He was married to Nancy Granger on July 9, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran church in Fenton. Paul enjoyed hunting, playing golf, slow pitch softball and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy; sons, Jeffrey (Cindy) Hieber and Duane (Shannon) Hieber; grandchildren, Nicholas (Stephanie) Hieber, Megan Hieber, Melissa (Dustin) Willard, Nathaniel Hieber, Noah Hieber, Renae (Anthony) Dipzinski, Lindsey Hieber; great-grandchildren, Violet, Charlotte and Ruby; sisters, Mary (Loren) Sheltraw and Joan (Paul) Merrow. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Esther Granger; stepmother-in-law, Naida Granger; twin brother, David Hieber; sister, Martha Wheaton; step-brother, Roger Inman.
