Jimmie Dale Long passed away peacefully on May 22, 2019. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Holly, on Wednesday May 29, at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Thursday May 30, 2019 at 9 AM.  Jimmie was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee as the first-born son of Virginia (Shinny) Long and Woodrow (Woody) Long. He was big brother to five siblings, proceeded in death by both his parents; brother, Steve (Kathy) Long, brother, David (Linda) Long; and his beloved wife Marilyn (Andrews) Long.  Surviving are sisters Pamela (Paul) Liscom, Sharon (Jim) Reid; brother, Virgil (Betty) Long; son, Phil (Robin) Long; daughter, Lisa (Peter) Hickman, daughter, Lesley (Neale) Jesse; and beloved friend Francine DeStefano. Jimmie was the fun-loving grandfather of seven grandchildren. Eric Long, Jacob Long, Caleb Long, Jordan Hickman, Mason Hickman, Adam Jesse, and Abigail Jesse will forever love their “inappropriate grandpa.” Jimmie was a veteran of the US Air Force, retired from Pontiac Motors, and enjoyed entertaining his customers at Jimmie D. Long Income Tax. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Holly. Jimmie loved “the golf” and had the enviable accomplishment of making three holes-in-one. His sense of humor, kindness, generosity, and the mischievous twinkle in his eyes, endeared him to a multitude of friends and acquaintances. He was a servant to two loyal dachshunds, Poppy and LuLu, and the savior of a blue tick hound. Jimmie enjoyed traveling, classic movies, Marilyn Monroe, southern cooking, practical jokes, and a good garage sale deal. He was a collector of many things, but mostly of devoted friends and family. He will be remembered in our hearts with joy, thankfulness, and gratitude. www.dryerfuneral home.com.
