Donald Ralph McLane

Donald Ralph McLane - age 84, of Fenton, died Friday, June 4, 2021. Funeral mass will be celebrated 12 Noon Friday, June 11 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Fenton, Interment in Tyrone Memory Gardens, Fenton. Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Wednesday, June 9 and 2 - 8 PM Thursday, June 10 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton; and 11 AM until the time of the mass Friday at the church.  Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.  Donald was born January 6, 1937 in Pontiac the son of Roland Carl McLane and Leona (Malloy) McLane. He was a graduate of Fenton High School. He was an undefeated boxer in teens and early twenties. Don married Alice Wietecha on June 30, 1979 in Fenton. Don retired from GM in 1986 with 30 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 35 years as part of the 12th Special Forces Group Airborne and earned the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was with the Fenton Police Department for 40 plus years. He co-owned D and A Excavating with his wife Alice for 25 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Surviving are wife of 42 years, Alice; daughter, Debbie Wardell of Fenton; son, Glenn Wardell of Fenton; son, Robert Wardell; brother, Frederick "Tom" (Sharon) McLane of Beaverton; sister, Judy Moyet of Pontiac; sister-in-law, Elaine (John) Messing; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Wardell; sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Arnold) Trevino; brother, Roland McLane; sister, Dorothy Wardell; and brother -in-law, Carmelo "Tati" Moyet.
