The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on Monday, May 22.
Sheriff Mike Murphy said the motorcyclist has been identified as Kyle Dinius, 33, of Adrian. His passenger, a 69-year-old woman from Howell, remains in the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse, a 46-year-old woman from Brighton, was not injured.
Murphy said with any fatal crash, the report would be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review. Preliminary investigation would show the Traverse driver at fault, however, the crash remains under investigation.
On Monday, May 22, at approximately 10:04 p.m., deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of W. Grand River and W. Highland Road in Howell Township for a vehicle versus a motorcycle crash involving injuries.
Murphy said the preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Chevrolet Traverse traveling east on W. Grand River failed to yield while turning left into a restaurant parking lot. The Chevrolet Traverse was struck by Dinius’ 1993 Harley Davison that was traveling west on W. Grand River.
Dinius was transported to Sparrow Hospital by Livingston County EMS with life threatening injuries. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
