Morgan Scott, 17, of Linden, took third place in her first national water ski competition in the individual swivel ski division.

Scott, who skis with the Silver Lake Club Show team on Silver Lake, competed in the National Water Show Ski Competition in Janesville, Wisconsin Aug. 8 and 9.

Scott has been skiing for eight years and competing with the Silver Lake Ski Club team for three years. This was her first year competing as an individual at this level.

The competition included skiers from across the United States.

To get to this level, Scott trained every day on and off the water, spending countless hours skiing and also training in the gym working on core conditioning.

Scott said her favorite part about skiing is helping the younger kids learn and watching them grow as she does weekly with the Silver Lake Ski Club team.

She has been chosen as the 2021 show director for the Silver Lake Show team that normally performs near the beach on Silver Lake on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. This summer has been an exception due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
