There’s another 50-year anniversary being celebrated and this one involved Fenton resident, Robert Harris, 96.

According to Kate Allen, AVP for Advancement at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in Overland Park, Kansas, “2019 marks the 50th anniversary of our campus. We are the largest institution of higher education in the state of Kansas serving 18,000 credit students and about 20,000 non-credit students.

“This month, at our All-Staff meeting to kick off the new school year, we had a very special guest address the 600 attendees, Fenton, Michigan resident Dr. Robert Harris,” Allen said.

The event took place Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the school.

Harris was the very first president of JCCC, serving from 1969-1975.

“He is an important founding father to us and did a wonderful job sharing stories with the group about those crucial years,” Allen said.  “We are very proud of Dr. Harris.”
