Fenton — After being introduced to the Fenton City Council on Monday, Jan. 13, by Police Chief Jason Slater, the department’s newest officer, Cole Hopkins, 30, was sworn into office by Mayor Sue Osborn.

 Hopkins’ first day on the job was Monday, Jan. 6.

 According to Slater, Hopkins, who is an Ohio native, worked as an officer for the Livonia Police Department for two-and-a-half years. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years.

 Following the oath, Hopkins said, “Thank you for having me here. I look forward to working in the city of Fenton. From the first day, everyone has welcomed me and treated me like family.”

 Fenton City Council chambers were filled for the event with fellow Fenton officers and Hopkins’ family.
