At 3:33 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, a Fenton police officer was traveling northbound on Torrey Road. A 2018 Toyota passenger car was traveling southbound. Failing to yield to the northbound vehicle directly in front of the police vehicle, the southbound Toyota struck the northbound vehicle as it attempted to turn left onto Georgetown Parkway. The police vehicle caught the crash on the vehicle’s dashcam. There were no injuries. The officer made contact with the at-fault driver, a 31-year-old Fenton woman, who said she was traveling home from Swartz Creek. She admitted to drinking alcohol. She failed the field sobriety test and she refused the breath test. A search warrant was eventually obtained to have a blood draw to determine her alcohol level. After blood was drawn at the ER in Fenton, she was then transported to the Genesee County Jail.
