A Genesee County sheriff’s deputy was injured during a traffic stop Monday, Nov. 22, on N. Fenton Road near Butcher Road in Fenton Township.

 Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said the deputy made a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle being stopped took off and the deputy was knocked to the ground. He suffered a deep laceration to his head.

 The deputy received significant wound care to his injury at a local hospital and was discharged.

 The suspect’s vehicle was located and the sheriff’s K9 unit located the suspect on a foot pursuit. The suspect is lodged in the Genesee County Jail pending charges.
