James Sidick, 37, of Fenton Township, was bound over Aug. 24 to Genesee County Circuit Court of a jury trial.
He was arraigned Aug. 4 in 67th District Court on one felony count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a female between the ages of 13 and 15. Court records indicate he is a habitual offender. A cash surety bond of $40,000 was ordered.
Det. Sgt. Andrew Snyder of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to a Fenton Township home for a criminal sexual conduct complaint Sunday, Aug. 1.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the homeowner, a 32-year-old Fenton Township woman and her male friend, a 27-year-old Lansing resident. The 27-year-old disclosed that he witnessed the 37-year-old boyfriend of the homeowner, Sidick, allegedly sexually assault a 14-year-old female friend of the family.
He was taken into custody and interviewed by detectives. Sidick must comply with bond conditions, including no drugs or alcohol, no contact with the victim and to not enter Genesee County except for court hearings and attorney consultations.
A pretrial has been scheduled for Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.
