The Fenton Community Orchestra (FCO), under the direction of Andrew Perkins, Simply Strings, under the direction of Jane Ball, and the Fenton Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Patrick Conaton will open the Concerts in the Park series at Rackham Park behind the Fenton Community and Cultural Center on June 2. The music begins at 7 p.m.
The concert is free but donations are welcome and will be split between the FCO and Fenton High School Band Program.
“Sharing live music with our community is a major part of our mission,” said Eric Szczepanski, FCO board chair. “We are excited to once again partner with the Fenton Jazz Orchestra and Southern Lakes Parks and Recreation to open the 2022 Fenton Concerts in the Park. We have a lot of fun and it’s a staple of summertime in downtown Fenton.”
Opening the series June 2 will also close out FCO’s season. FCO’s 12th season was presented by the Marathon Flint Oil Company and sponsored by First Choice Heating and Cooling, Fenton’s Open Book, and in part by matching grants from Share Art Genesee, and the National Endowment for the Arts/Michigan Arts and Culture Council.
Concerts in the Park take place every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. from June 2 to Sept. 1. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on.
The summer concert series is presented by Southern Lakes Parks and Recreation and sponsored by the city of Fenton Downtown Development Authority.
