Community members of all ages are invited to attend the 2021 Garden Tour, hosted by the Open Gate Garden Club from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, Sunday, July 25.

The light-hearted theme this year is “Celebrate the Joy of Horticulture — Wings Welcome!” Children of all ages (1-99-plus) are encouraged to wear their wings (and antennae) for extra smiles as they make their way along the stops.

This tour showcases the diverse gardening opportunities available with woodlands, farmland, rivers, and lakes — all within minutes of downtown Fenton, brimming with parks, award-winning streetscapes, tranquil neighborhoods and unique shops and restaurants.

This event is a merging of local heart and spirit.

The tour begins at the Fenton Butterfly Garden with information available on how to grow a home butterfly garden.

Five private gardens will welcome participants, each exuding their own beauty. Those on the tour will view woodlands with natural wildflowers, ponds, garden art, exotic lilies, dahlias, vegetable gardening, an apple orchard, a labyrinth, a lakeside waterfall and much more.

The tour includes an additional stop at a Hosta Farm, with some plants for sale, and where private tea parties may be scheduled by appointment. A local nursery is hosting a live community planting for children.

Kids with ticket-holding adults also will be given the opportunity to decorate a pot and plant a seed to take home to nurture.

On the same day, Forgotten Harvest Farm is holding an Open House for those interested in learning more about their mission of growing and distributing food for families in need. Tour attendees will find more information about this open house on their tour ticket.

Tickets bought in advance are $8 each. Children 12 and under are free with paying adult. Tickets will list the locations and provide information about each tour stop. Tickets are available from the following merchants:

• Gerych’s Distinctive Flowers and Gifts, 713 Silver Lake Rd, Fenton

• Yard ‘N Garden Center and Florist, 603 W Silver Lake Rd, Fenton

• Bordine’s of Grand Blanc, 9100 Torrey Rd, Grand Blanc

Tickets on Tour Day are $10 each and are available only at AJ Phillips Museum, 310 S. LeRoy St., Fenton.
